An Artist Paints En Plein Air at Weir Farm (NHS/contributed)
Weir Farm National Historic Site announces the opening of the Weir Art Farm Academy in partnership with Dmitri Wright, the park’s Master Artist/Instructor. Due to popular demand, Mr. Wright is now offering academy level training in 4-day workshops in the American Impressionist plein air tradition.
Weir Farm Art Academy students will learn to apply the methods used by the Impressionists to their work - capturing nature, in nature. Through Dmitri’s multi-dimensional teaching methods and unique ‘Preservation and Progress Model’, each student will develop their own personal brand or style of Impressionism. By applying the techniques and philosophy of the Impressionists, both science and poetry, students will experience the Impressionist tradition in a landscape that has inspired artists for over 130 years.
There is a fee to participate (see below). Weir Farm Art Academy workshops are open to all levels from beginners to advanced. Limited spaces available to maximize learning and mitigate environmental impacts. All Weir Farm Art Academy workshops will take place in the historic Burlingham Barn and surrounding landscape at Weir Farm National Historic Site (http://www.nps.gov/wefa/historyculture/places-burlinghambarn.htm).
Sessions for the Weir Farm Art Academy will be held in spring, summer, and fall 2014:
