BRIDGEPORT, CT - Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo, the state's only zoo, announces a new series of "Cabin Fever" programs designed to cure the winter doldrums. The Zoo plans fun and educational special events and seasonal programs throughout the year, most of which are free with the purchase of Zoo admission, unless otherwise noted. Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo is closer than you think and open year-round from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Adult admission (ages 12 & older) is $12.00, children (ages 3 -11) and senior admission (62 and older) is just $10.00, and children under 3 years old are free. Zoo members also are admitted free. Parking at the Zoo is free of charge.

Meet three of the Zoo's education ambassador raptors, learn the differences and similarities of hawks and owls, and what species you might see in Connecticut skies. Kids, 6 and up, can then dissect an owl pellet and discover the bone remains of an owl's meal. After the program, enjoy cookies and hot chocolate by the fire. $10 for adults, $15 for kids 6 and up, program not recommended for kids under 6 years old. Registration required. Meet the Zoo's newest cat ambassador, learn about one of Connecticut's top predators, and how Zoo staff has trained and worked with BeeZe to prepare him for public presentations and fun activities like painting. Kids, 6 and up, can create their own "animal" painting using rubber footprint stamps from some of our Zoo animals.
