Stamford, CT — ARI of Connecticut, Inc. has opened registration for teams of walkers, sponsors, volunteers for the 4th Annual Walk for Independence, on Sunday, May 2, at Cove Island Park in Stamford.

The goal of the Walk is to promote wellness and collaboration between our agency and our community. Teams from ARI’s 5 group homes will be paired with other teams for this unique event. Walking side-by-side with ARI clients, participants will not only enjoy a healthful morning of activity, but will experience, first-hand, the inspiration our clients deliver to all who know them.

ARI’s fundraising goal is $50k. We are actively seeking sponsors for this event. Sponsorship levels range from the “Title Event Sponsorship” ($5,000) to “Team Sponsorships” ($150).”

For the third year in a row, Darius Jamshidian, owner of several Subways in the Stamford / Greenwich area, will provide lunch for walkers. Other confirmed sponsors to date include Thomson Reuters, The Stamford Advocate, Stamford Plus Magazine, 95.9 The Fox, Jackson Lewis, Production Providers, Hope Street Pharmacy, Bruce Supply Co., Hub International, Benefit Planning Services, LLC. The Umbrella Club, Harper International, Synapse Group, and Kiwanis Club of Stamford.

Registration will begin at 10:00am. The 1-, 2-, or 3- mile Walk begins at 11:00am, followed by a picnic lunch for participants. There is no fee to walk; however, in order to receive a tee shirt, walkers must pledge a minimum of $50.

ARI provides jobs, homes and services to over 200 adults with disabilities. With funding cuts it is more important for the community to show its support of ARI’s clients by attending this event. Proceeds from the event will help offset the decrease in state and other funding.

ARI MISSION: Enriching the lives of people with disabilities and their families by enabling them to achieve their fullest potential at home, at work and in the community.
