Stamford, CT - April 9, 2010 – The Business Council of Fairfield County will host a panel presentation on the significance of the newly enacted federal health care law, the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act, and its impact on Connecticut. The event will be held on April 27 at the Holiday Inn Downtown Stamford. Registration will begin at 7:45am and the panel presentation will run from 8:00-9:30am. Cost for the event is $25 for members of The Business Council and $50 for non-members.

The hotly debated and widely covered health care bill was signed into law by President Obama last month. While promising to "give Americans more control over their health care," the Act does leave many questions unanswered.

The legislation has introduced some new concepts, such as individual and employer mandates, health benefit exchanges in addition to new insurance market regulations. Find out what these new concepts mean to you and your insurance plans. The effect the new law has on the state's own health care plan currently in design, Sustinet, will also be addressed.

Joining the panel will be Tom Beauregard, Executive Vice President, UnitedHealth Group and the Executive Director of the UnitedHealth Center for Health Reform & Modernization; Frances Padilla, Acting President, Universal Health Care Foundation of CT, Inc. and David Smith, Senior Vice President, Strategy & Business Development, Stamford Hospital.

Reservations and further information may be obtained by contacting The Business Council at 203-359-3220 or online at www.businessfairfield.com.
