"Not only were we able to sell these vehicles and equipment for a substantial amount of money, but we are also able to clean out the areas where they had been stored; some for a very long time," said Mayor Malloy. In past years, surplus vehicles and equipment had been disposed of by soliciting local bids. This process limited the amount of bidders and usually resulted in very low bids and in some cases no bids at all. The on-line auction opens up the bid process to a world wide base of potential bidders. As a result of more competition, bid prices increase and more equipment is sold. The City has two additional bids posted with Auctions International Inc, One bid is for surplus asphalt application equipment and another bid is for surplus police vehicles. Based on the activity seen so far, it is anticipated these additional auctions will also be very successful. © Copyright by StamfordPlus.com.
