Julia Brennan Named Program Officer of New Affordable Housing Grants Program

The Fairfield County Collaborative Fund for Affordable Housing and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) are pleased to announce the appointment of Julia Brennan of Stamford as Program Officer. In this newly created post, she will work with the Collaborative’s local private sector funders to provide working capital and technical assistance to nonprofit community development and housing organization who are engaged in revitalizing neighborhoods and producing and preserving affordable housing in greater Bridgeport, Danbury, Norwalk and Stamford.

The Collaborative was formed in 2006 by local community foundations, corporations, banks, United Way agencies, private charitable organizations and individual funders to address the growing shortage of affordable housing in Fairfield County that threatens the quality of life and the future economies in each of the county’s interdependent towns and cities. By maximizing donor resources and impact, funders expect to spur larger scale production of quality housing by nonprofit developers and develop community partnerships to create long-term sustainability of these housing initiatives.

The United Way of Westport-Weston, one of the founding members, has generously provided office space. The Collaborative is supported by the specialized technical and administrative services of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), the nationally recognized nonprofit leader in providing financial and technical assistance to community based organizations.

Ms. Brennan will draw on her professional and volunteer experience to oversee the management of the Collaborative including grants management and evaluation process, engage new funders, and coordinate LISC training and technical assistance programs for grant recipients working to increase affordable housing options

Committed to the non-profit community, Ms. Brennan has served for 5 years on the Fund Distribution Committee for the United Way of Stamford (now Western CT) where she gained insight into non-profit funding mechanisms and a keen understanding of non-profit management and challenges. For the past 8 years, Ms. Brennan was the Manager, Customer Care Operations for Synapse, a division of Time Warner, in Stamford. A graduate of the University of Connecticut in Storrs, she lives in Stamford with her husband and two children.
