First female Chaplain of the Stamford Police Department sworn-in

STAMFORD – Tuesday, July 1, 2008 – Mayor Dannel P. Malloy announced that he has recently administered the oath of office to Pastor Dr. Herlene F. Streeter, as the first female Chaplain of the Stamford Police Department. Pastor Streeter is a well known, highly respected and distinguished reverend who has held many prominent positions in our community. She was employed by the City of Stamford's Board of Education for 39 years until her retirement in 2006.

Dr. Streeter is a graduate of Bethel Bible School in Bridgeport, Connecticut; Tabernacle Bible Institute in Hempstead, LI; and she earned a Bachelor of Theology from Christian Life School of Theology, Pastor Streeter obtained her Doctorate of Humanities from Faith Bible College and her Doctorate of Divinity from Anointed by God Alliance and Seminary.

Currently, Dr. Streeter is the Apostle of Jesus Is Lord Tabernacle of Deliverance and Overseer of Covenant of Peace Ministries, Connecticut Division. For the past twenty-two years, Dr, Streeter has conducted gospel ministering on cable access television that airs in several Connecticut and Westchester County cities.

Pastor Streeter joins Reverend Richard Futie of Sacred Heart Church; Rabbi Joshua Hammerman of Temple Beth El; Reverend LeRoy Ladson of Bethel AME Church; Reverend Robert Perry of Union Baptist Church; Reverend Johnny Bush of Greater Faith Tabernacle Church; Reverend Tommie Jackson of Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church; and Rabbi Joseph Ehrenkranz of Center for Christian Jewish Understanding, in providing spiritual guidance and support to the members of the Stamford Police Department.
