The City of Hartford continues to find ways to go green and here’s another success story.

Burr Elementary School is saving energy thanks to a new efficiency project. The school used 12% less electricity and saved more than $6000 over 3 months as a result of retro-commissioning. This happened despite the hottest July on record! This good news is part of the City’s Division of Capital Assets efforts to work with Hartford Public Schools to track energy use and consumption.

Retro-commissioning projects have been successfully completed at Noah Webster MicroSociety Magnet School, Rawson School, and now Alfred E. Burr. Retro-commissioning projects are underway at Dr. James H. Naylor School, Classical Magnet School, Moylan School, and Hartford Public High School with Sport and Medical Sciences Academy to follow.

On the first day of school, Monday, August 30th, Mayor Segarra will visit Burr Elementary to present the Principal with a citation to honor this achievement. The Mayor will also shake hands with students as they board the bus at the end of the day (3:25p.m.) to wish them a successful new school year.
