On Wednesday, September 1 and Thursday, September 2 from 6am to 11am, the city traffic division team and the DSSD’s operations Events Team will be collecting the “It’s Reigning Cats & Dogs” cat and dog sculptures that have been on display this summer to clean and prepare them for an auction on September 15.
Stamford Downtown’s It’s Reigning Cats & Dogs featured forty originally designed fiberglass cat and dog sculptures, painted and embellished by local artists. The pets, decorated by 34 accomplished artists from the region, include “Corn Dog,” a dog painted by Eddie Nino with corn kernels and husk; “Everyone’s Best Friend,” a dog by Suzan Waldinger decorated with customized handprints; and the lovable “In the Dog House,” by Pamela Riley-Abear featuring its very own dog house, will be available for bidding at an auction on September 15 at 5:30pm at Seven Landmark Square in Stamford by auctioneers Bobby Valentine and Laurie Guzda McEvoy. The party is open to the public for a $40 fee. The minimum bid for the pets is $500.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Friends of Felines, OPIN and the Stamford Dog Park.
