The forty sculptures, are ready to be positioned in their new place of residence in Stamford Downtown for the summer of 2010. These sculptures are part of the DSSD’s outdoor summer sculpture exhibit, It’s Reigning Cats & Dogs. Thanks to the talent of 34 artists who have magically transformed white fiberglass animal forms into works of art full of creativity and humor, 40 oversized, originally designed and painted fiberglass cats and dogs on will be on display on the streets and parks of Stamford Downtown.

Installation has begun yesterday and continues today from 5 am to 11 am. It will take the city traffic division team, the DSSD’s operations Events Team, two fork-lifts and a loader truck to install them. Their installation is an event in itself and is more than likely to draw a crowd with very curious onlookers as each piece is hoisted from the holding area and transported via an open-air truck to its location amid ongoing activity.

It's Reigning Cats & Dogs sculptures are certainly bound to make a grand appearance on the Streets and in the parks of Downtown and in Stamford Town Center! It’s Reigning Cats & Dogs runs June through August.

On June 16, the DSSD will host an opening reception for It’s Reigning Cats & Dogs, the official kickoff celebration and viewing for sponsors and the public at the Stamford Marriott. For tickets to the opening reception and a map of locations and more information about It’s Reigning Cats & Dogs., Art in Public Places 2010, call 203-348-5285 or visit www.stamford-downtown.com.
