Stamford, CT - June 30, 2008 - Mayor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that he has transmitted a report to the Planning Board, the Board of Representatives and the Board of Finance that identifies over $400 million of ongoing infrastructure projects in the City of Stamford. More than $150 million of that total is under construction and the remainder in design or planning.

"Stamford is undergoing unprecedented private development, and this report shows that we are working hard to match that investment with new and upgraded infrastructure," Mayor Malloy said today. "It details our efforts in many areas, from transportation to stormwater to the library and other facilities. As you can see, we are accomplishing a lot this year and of course we will continue to plan and build for the future."

The report points out that nearly $300 million of the projects in the report are primarily funded by the State and Federal governments, including the Stamford Urban Transitway, the Environmental Magnet School, and the Railroad Underpass replacement program.

The report also provides details on the City's efforts to address a backlog of paving, sidewalk, and catch basin replacements. It does not include nearly $200 million in public improvements to be provided by the Harbor Point Infrastructure Improvement a District in the South End under an agreement recently reached with the City. Similarly, it does not include more than $25 million in upgrades and expansions to the City's sewer infrastructure underway by the Water Pollution Control Authority and a planned #35 million parking garage replacement at the State-run Transportation Center.
