When Miramax needed a place to edit their new feature, “Everybody’s Fine,” they wanted a facility that was flexible enough to meet their needs. Televersemedia’s subsidiary post facility, Elements, fit the bill.
“This feature posed unique challenges,” says Miramax’s VP of Post Production Sean Cooney, “The script called for significant improvisation, with shooting to be accomplished with the Panavision Genesis digital camera. We needed to allow for an unusually high volume of daily footage, while providing the director and key crew the ability to screen HD dailies in Connecticut without the delay of shuttling footage back and forth to a NYC-based lab. Elements provided us with high definition encoding to DVD and digital dailies as well as space to house dailies processing, editorial and a first-class HD screening room, which we essentially built from the ground up in Connecticut with the help of Postworks/Orbit Digital. Elements is definitely a great resource for high def. services right here in Connecticut, allowing us to take full advantage of the tax credit.”
The film is expected to be released in 2009 and stars Robert De Niro, Drew Barrymore and Kate Beckinsale. The plot centers around a widowed man who, realizing that his wife was his only real connection with his children, sets off on a cross-country train ride from New York to Las Vegas to reunite with each of his children.
Elements, in collaboration with Orbit Digital, provided 4 rooms: a screening room, a dailies room, and 2 edit rooms. In addition to providing Miramax with edit space, Elements also assisted with encoding for digital dallies and the authoring of DVDs.
“It was great to have Miramax under our roof”, says Elements President Jeff Taylor, “it is a clear affirmation of our commitment to our clients and to our expertise in high definition”.
