One thing was sure in Stamford this election day – the city would have a new mayor after Dan Malloy decided not to run following 14 years at the top of City Hall.
The question left to be answered was who would be the new captain at the helm.
Following a lengthy and very tight race in Fairfield County’s largest city, Mike Pavia (R) edged out David Martin (D) to become the new mayor of Stamford.
The Republican candidate managed to win the office in a largely Democratic city that has not had a republican mayor for the past two decades.
Meanwhile, Norwalk Mayor Dick Moccia (R) kept his position easily and will be the city’s top executive for another two years. His main challenger was Steven Serasis (D).
