“We are pleased to again support the Ferguson Library for increased hours of operation,” said Kathleen Ryan Mufson, Vice President of the Pitney Bowes Literacy and Education Fund. “Public libraries are more important than ever in today’s rapidly changing world. They play a special role in enhancing learning and ensuring access to information for all.” The Pitney Bowes Literacy and Education Fund has been a generous friend to the Library over the years, funding summer Sundays in 2005, and additional weekday hours in 2006 and 2007, which enabled the Main Library to open at 9 a.m. during that period. The Library has also worked cooperatively with Pitney Bowes employees to promote literacy, particularly through the Ferguson’s South End Branch. “The funds from Pitney Bowes will enable the Ferguson Library to enhance its commitment to the community with increased hours of service,” said Tom Cassone, Chair of the Ferguson Library Board of Trustees. “Per hour, Sunday is the busiest day of the week. On an average Sunday, about 880 people visit the Main Library,” he said.
