Cove, Glenbrook and East Side to receive a combined total of $29,000 in funding

State Representative Carlo Leone (D-Stamford) has announced that three neighborhood associations in his district have received a total of $29,000 in state funding for local improvement projects.

“I am very pleased that I was able to work with these associations to secure this funding for these worthwhile projects,” Rep. Leone said. “This money will help breath new life into our communities and instill a new sense of pride for where we live.”

The break down of funding is as follows:

* Cove Neighborhood Association, $9,000 (Gazebo/Entrance at Gurley Park)
* Glenbrook Neighborhood Association, $9,000 (Glenbrook Train Station)
* East Side Neighborhood Association, $11,000 (Entrance way for Hunt Park)
* Christie Fountain of the Glenbrook Neighborhood Association said, “Thanks to this funding the Glenbrook train station is going to look so much better and will be more convenient for passengers to use.”

Also receiving moving is the Cove Neighborhood Association which will use the money to build a gazebo at Gurley Park that will provide an entrance to the cove area.

“We can’t wait to get this project completed for what will serve as a gateway to the Cove and Long Island Sound,” said Charles Stobbie of the Cove Neighborhood Association.

Funding for the third neighborhood association project will be used to create a decorative steel archway entrance for Hunt Park at the corner of East Main Street and Courtland Avenue.

“This funding initiated by Rep. Leone will help make the park more accessible and will attract more people to enjoy this beautiful green-space,” said James Grunberger, Chairman of the Eastside Partnership. “He really helped us put the pieces of the puzzle in place.”

Rep. Leone was able to secure money for these projects as a part of state contingency funds. The projects now await approval by the city.

Rep. Leone is serving his third term as Representative of the 148th District. He is Chairman of the Regulations Review Committee and is a member of the Finance and the Transportation Committees.
