Second Congregational Church will hold a service titled “A Quiet Time to Remember 9/11” on Saturday, Sept. 11, at 7:30 a.m. on the Greenwich Labyrinth for Peace and Healing. The labyrinth is on the grounds of the church, at 139 E. Putnam Ave. in Greenwich.
The free service will include a time to remember and reflect on the victims of 9/11, as well as victims of poverty and warfare beyond their control. In addition, there will be brief readings, prayer resources and walking the labyrinth. The resources will be available all day so people may stop and remember later in the day.
“Our labyrinth was dedicated to those who lost their lives on 9/11 and others who experience suffering throughout the world,” said the Rev. Robert H. Naylor, senior minister of Second Congregational Church. “Recently, our media have been filled with emotional remembrances of 9/11 and pictures and stories of suffering in Pakistan. We need some space and some time to just sit and remember and to ask for God’s help and guidance in healing wounds and assisting those who suffer.”
