Dec 17, 2007 - 11:43:27 PM
Join SoundWaters to “Roast & Toast” Donna and Jack Moffly, Riverside residents and co-founders of Moffly Publications. The event will take place on Wednesday, January 16 from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. at Richards of Greenwich, 359 Greenwich Avenue . Proceeds will benefit SoundWaters, a non-profit organization with education programs that help raise awareness for the protection of Long Island Sound.
The event will honor the Mofflys who founded Moffly Publications in 1986 with the purchase of the Greenwich Review, now Greenwich Magazine. Following the success of that first magazine, the couple then spotlighted other local towns in monthly, full-color publications, including Westport , New Canaan-Darien and atHome in Fairfield County magazines.
“SoundWaters is proud to honor Donna and Jack Moffly who have crafted a thought-provoking and stylish forum expressly for Fairfield County residents,” said Leigh Shemitz, SoundWaters executive director. “Since the Mofflys have many friends and fans alike, we are looking forward to a fun and lively evening. They are an extremely generous and accomplished couple, and we are delighted to have their support.”
The evening fundraiser will feature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and live entertainment. Tickets for the “Roast & Toast” begin at $100 per person, and pre-registration is recommended. For more information and reservations, call (203) 406-3314 or log on to www.soundwaters.org.
About the Mofflys
After retiring from a 30-year career with Time, Inc., Jack Moffly founded Moffly Publications with his wife Donna. The duo acquired the 40-year-old Greenwich Review and then the Nutmegger. Those two publications were merged to create the magazine known today as Greenwich Magazine. Donna currently serves as the company’s editorial director and is the former editor-in-chief of Greenwich . Jack is Chairman Emeritus of the company and continues his role as Greenwich Magazine’s editorial voice on town issues. He had been publisher of Greenwich until recently turning over that position to his son, Jonathan.
The couple has lived in Riverside for 45 years and has had a strong commitment to community voluntarism. Donna has been a member of the Junior League since 1957. Jack has been on the Chamber of Commerce’s board since 1992 and has served as chairman. He has also served on the boards of the Boys & Girls Club, Historical Society of the Town of Greenwich , Greenwich Emergency Medical Service and the United Way . He has just been elected to the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting.
