Stamford, CT — Taste the finest Fairfield County has to offer at the upcoming MS Taste of Hope, Fairfield County, a wine and gourmet food pairing event to benefit those in Connecticut battling the potentially debilitating effects of multiple sclerosis (MS).

The second annual tasting event which offers guests an opportunity to sample high-end wines, spirits and gourmet dishes from several of the area’s best restaurants, wineries and spirit-makers. The event takes place Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Sheraton Hotel in Stamford, Conn., from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $75 in advance and $85 at the door.

More than 6,000 Connecticut residents live with multiple sclerosis, a chronic and often disabling disease of the central nervous system. There currently is no cure. Symptoms can include, among other things, numbness in the limbs, difficulties with vision and speech, stiffness and, in some more severe cases, total paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot be predicted.

“One hundred percent of the proceeds will help fund the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Connecticut Chapter Care Management Program,” said Lisa Gerrol, chapter president and chief professional officer. “This program was established to help the most needy and vulnerable — those with MS struggling to care for themselves, while at the same time trying to navigate complex economic and healthcare-related resources. We provide those with MS and their caregivers with information and support to live as independently as possible, hopefully preventing costly and premature institutionalization.”

MS Taste of Hope, Fairfield County is hosted by Benefit Hope, a group of young professional 20- and 30-somethings primarily from the Fairfield County-area, who are committed to the fight against multiple sclerosis.
