Vaneese Thomas, internationally acclaimed Gospel singer, will be featured in a concert of Gospel music Sunday, October 30, at 4 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 884 Newfield Ave., Stamford. Joining Ms. Thomas will be members of church choirs from Stamford, New Canaan, Darien, Bridgeport and Fairfield, and a professional instrumental ensemble.
Vaneese Thomas’s talents as a singer, songwriter, producer, and actor have made her a sought-after solo performer as well as a first-call vocalist for projects by other top-name artists including Luciano Pavarotti, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Eric Clapton, and numerous others. Embracing a remarkable family legacy, she carries forward the rich heritage of Memphis soul and R&B, a music that has touched several generations and crossed many divides. At the same time Vaneese has combined all the influences of her background and experience – R & B, gospel, blues, and jazz – to cultivate a soul-stirring style that’s all her own.
Suggested contribution for the concert is $15 payable at the door. A reception will follow the concert.
The Joyful Noise concert series is beginning its 28th season and is Stamford’s longest continuously-running church concert series offering musical events to the greater Stamford community. This season also features organist Stephen Hamilton, Sunday, February 26, at 4 p.m. and Deborah Lifton, soprano, March 25, at 4 p.m.
