Combining metal-hard rock with southern rock to form a unique sound, Molly Hatchet broke through the music of the 70’s with their hit “Flirtin’ With Disaster,” the title song from their second album. Molly Hatchet is coming to The Ridgefield Playhouse for Movies and the Performing Arts on Thursday, September 18 at 8 p.m.

With the combination of boogie, blues and hard rock, Molly Hatchet’s sound was differentiated from more country-influenced acts such as The Outlaws. Perhaps more effectively than most other Southern rock acts, their music expressed the values, hopes—and excesses—of 1970s working-class folks in Southern metropolitan areas like Jacksonville, Florida.

Thirty some years later, they are still legendary in the metal rock scene—thunderous chords abound with band members Bobby Ingram on lead guitars, Phil McCormack on lead vocals and harmonica, Dave Hlubek on guitar, John Galvin on keyboards, bassist Tim Lindsey and drummer Shawn Beamer.

For tickets ($55) and further information about The Ridgefield Playhouse, call the box office at 203-438-5795; tickets may also be purchased online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Playhouse is at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street.
