Stamford Museum & Nature Center’s 13th Annual Flights of Fancy Wine Tasting, an evening of fine wines provided by BevMax, exquisite food from 11 different local caterers, and a combination of tremendous live and silent auction items to benefit the SM&NC is set for Friday, June 4, 2010. Former Stamford Mayor Dannel Malloy will host the evening’s live auction.

The 13th annual wine tasting will be held in the Museum’s Bendel Mansion. All event proceeds support Stamford Museum & Nature Center’s educational mission. Additionally, BevMax has pledged its support to the Museum by donating all the profits of wine sales from the event directly to the Museum.

“We are excited to have BevMax involved in this unique, social event,” said Stamford’s Claudia Silver, chair of the event. “We are so grateful they have committed to donating all profits of wine sales from the evening back to the Museum.”

“This signature event, a party-on-foot, is a great way to sample terrific food and wine, and support the SM&NC’s educational mission of service to the community,” said Melissa H. Mulrooney, executive director.

The evening will feature both a live and silent auction with incredible, one-of-a-kind items and experiences.

“The committee has been hard at work finding unique and tempting items to include in this year’s silent auction and live auction, “ said Eva Levine of New Canaan, silent auction co-chair. “Some of the items include an exclusive Scotch tasting for 10, a U.S.Open ticket package, a stay in Steamboat, Colorado’s premier ski-in/ski-out lodging alongside the Christie Peak chairlift, and the must-have Kindle,” said Angela Bollettieri of Stamford, silent auction co-chair.

The Flights of Fancy Wine Tasting is generously sponsored by William and Katherine Aron, Day Pitney LLP, Ernst & Young, F.D. Rich, Fidelity Investments, Howard and Barbara Malloy, O’Connor Davies Munns & Dobbins LLP, Pierson & Smith, Pitney Bowes, Purdue Pharma LP, RBS Sempra Commodities, and June and Rolf Rosenthal.

A tempting array of cuisine will be served by local caterers including A Dash of Salt of Norwalk, BUtterfield 8, David’s Soundview Catering, Frank & Julio Complete Event Planning, and Fratelli Market of Stamford, Illy Coffee, Michael Joseph’s Fine Foods of Darien, and Napa & Co., Shelly’s On The River, Susan Kane Catering, Sweet on You, and Tawa Indian Cuisine, all of Stamford.

Committee members, in addition to Silver, Levine, and Bollettieri, include Nadia Berkowitz of Mill Valley, Calif., Leslie Bruzik, Marybeth Came, Lynn Villency Cohen, Cindy Herritt, Cathy Klein, Becky Lai, Shelley Levine, and Cynthia Mammone, all of Stamford, Betsy Raftery of Wilton, and Jami Sherwood, and Lisa Welch, of Stamford.
