Wethersfield, CT - On the evening of October 13, 2011 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, CT, the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Connecticut held its Seventh Annual Industry Recognition Awards Dinner honoring nine professionals in Connecticut’s commercial construction industry who exemplify exceptional leadership and character, and who have exhibited a commitment to excellence and service and a determination to exceed expectations over the span of their careers.
Industry Recognition Awards for 2011 were presented in nine different categories that comprise the wide diversity of roles in the design and construction industries. The following individuals received awards for their contributions:
· Public Owner of the Year – Keith Epstein, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Planning and Technical Services, Connecticut State University System;
· Private Owner of the Year – David Frassinelli, Vice President for Facilities, Fairfield University;
· Designer of the Year – Clarence Welti, Geotechnical Engineer, Clarence Welti Associates, Inc.;
· General Contractor/Construction Manager of the Year – Damien Davis, President, Newfield Construction;
· Subcontractor of the Year – Robert Berkmoes, Executive Vice President, James T. Kay Co.;
· Supplier/Service Provider of the Year – Michael Donnelly, Partner, Murtha Cullina, LLP;
· Construction Supervisor of the Year – Martin Tubbs, General Superintendent, Manafort Brothers, Inc.;
· Educator of the Year – Howard Epstein, Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineers, University of Connecticut;
· Construction Safety Professional of the Year – Walter B. Tucker, Jr., Director of Safety, Petra Construction
The AGC of Connecticut Industry Recognition Awards were established in 2005 to recognize leading individuals from the commercial construction industry who have demonstrated skills, integrity, and responsibility in their careers.
AGC of Connecticut is a statewide construction trade association based in Wethersfield, CT. It is the state chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America. Its membership is comprised of general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors and specialty contractors, and firms that supply and serve the Connecticut commercial construction industry. AGC members build the public and private infrastructure of our state, including colleges, public schools, city halls, fire stations, libraries, civic centers, police stations, roads, bridges and airports and many other commercial construction projects.
