Norwalk, CT - The Norwalk Public Library is pleased to present another ArtScapades lecture, Pop!: Lichtenstein, Warhol, and Hockney, on Wednesday, March 25, at 6:30p.m., in the Main Auditorium, located at 1 Belden Avenue, Norwalk.
Pop is a movement characterized by the imagery of consumerism and popular culture. Pop art has become one of the most recognizable styles of modern art. This lecture will look at the lives and works of Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, and David Hockney. These three artists celebrated commonplace objects and everyday people, seeking to elevate popular culture to the level of fine art.
The goal of ArtScapades is for you to develop the means to critique a work of art while learning art history and art appreciation. You will come away with, both, an understanding of these artists and their works, as well as the tools with which to effectively explore galleries and museums.
Robin Hoffman and Jodi Stiffelman of ArtScapades began teaching art appreciation in 1998. They have presented at libraries and museums in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and Florida. They are pleased to be returning to the Norwalk Public Library. Visit www.ArtScapades.com for more about ArtScapades.
