The three wives who discover...after 25 years...that they are not really married in Curtain Call's WHEN WE ARE MARRIED playing in The Dressing Room Theatre January 13 through 29. Seated L-R Jan Pasqua & Sarah Green; standing, Karen Hanley.
Suppose you woke up one morning after 25 years of marriage and discovered you weren’t legally wed? What might you do or say to your “spouse”? While you decide, you can see how three couples with just that fate handle it when J. B. Priestley’s WHEN WE ARE MARRIED plays in Curtain Call’s Dressing Room Theatre from January 13 through 29.

Set in 1908 in Clecklewyke in the heart of Northern England, three well-to-do West Yorkshire couples - the Parkers, Soppitts and Helliwells - married on the same day, at the same church, and by the same vicar, join to celebrate 25 years of blissful matrimony. Disaster strikes with the shocking revelation that the vicar who married them wasn’t actually licensed – these pillars of the church and the community, aren’t as respectably married as they thought they were!

Written in 1938, this charming comedy has been a staple of London theatre on and off many times. This, the first Curtain Call production of the play, is directed by Stamford resident, Joel Fenster. The cast includes: from STAMFORD: Tom Costaggini, Jeff Pliskin, Lauren Nicole Sherwood and Jamil Zraikat; from NORWALK: Ann Alford and Jim Foley; from WESTPORT: Steve Benko and Sarah Green; from STRATFORD: Candice Sisbarro; from EASTON: Jan Pasqua; from WHITE PLAINS, NY: Karen Hanley and Bill Warncke, from SOUTH SALEM, N Y: Julie Petrak; and from RYE, NY: Bob Praid.

“I am very happy to have been able to add this production to our roster,” said Lou Ursone, Curtain Call executive director and producer for this show. “I had seen the Long Wharf production in 1989 and then saw a London revival this past January and was reminded of how much I enjoyed the piece and thought it was perfect for our audiences,” he added.

As is the case for most Curtain Call productions, half of the actors involved are new to Curtain Call – something which Ursone is always pleased about. “I love having new actors join our family…it’s very exciting,” he said.

Rounding out the production team for WHEN WE ARE MARRIED are Peter Barbieri, Jr (NORWALK) – production design, Megan Latte Ormand (STAMFORD) – costume design and Chaz Birckhead (STRATFORD) – production stage manager.

Beginning Friday, January 20, WHEN WE ARE MARRIED will play Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:00pm. Tickets are $28 for adults, $20 for Senior Citizens and $14 for students/children. Tickets can be purchased by phone at (203)461-6358. Tickets are also available online at www.curtaincallinc.com. Flex Passes for the 2011-12 season are still on sale and can bring savings of up to 25% off the prices noted here. Performances in The Dressing Room Theatre are presented cabaret-style with a BYOEverything format. Doors open one hour before show time to allow time for patrons to enjoy a picnic meal or light nosh. Curtain Call's most recent season saw 94% of their performances completely sold out, so advance reservations are encouraged.

Following WHEN WE ARE MARRIED Curtain Call's 21st season will include: The Importance of Being Earnest, Death of a Salesman, The Sound of Music, On Golden Pond and 42nd Street. Other special events including concerts by Frank Mastrone and Maydie Myles, plus four Musical Monday presentations of brand new musicals and interactive murder mysteries are also on tap.
