“Buzz’s Boatyard” toy boats recalled

The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection alerts consumers to recall of Buzz’s Boatyard Toy Boats in response to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s voluntary recall of this product due to high levels of lead. The toy boats were manufactured in India and imported by Buzz’s Boatyard of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. The boats were sold nationwide from April 2007 through November 2007 for approximately $3.00 to $12.00, on the website www.buzzboats.com . The paint on the boats contains excessive levels of lead.

The recalled boats involve two (2) models of tin Pop Pop toy boats. They are the 13 inch “Titantic” and the “Hut” Pop Pop boats.

Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr. urged consumers to check their homes for this product and if found, remove from children’s reach and contact Buzz’s Boatyard for a refund or an exchange. For additional information, please call Buzz’s Boatyard toll free at (877) 207-1923 EST, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, or visit their website at www.buzzboats.com/poppop.htm . Although no injuries have been reported, the potential for lead exposure to children is high.
