CIGNA signs on to help raise awareness for people with disabilities and Mosaic

Mosaic proudly announces CIGNA is adding their support to Mosaic's mission to provide a life of possibilities for people with intellectual disabilities. The company has signed on as a major sponsor for Mosaic's upcoming comedy events!

“At CIGNA, we’re passionate about our belief that everyone should have the support they need to lead the fullest life possible. Through the work of our behavioral health team, we know the power laughter holds to help people enhance their sense of well-being and maintain their health. Therefore, supporting MOSAIC’s Laugh Out Loud event is a perfect fit for us,” said Gianna Jackson, Executive Director, CIGNA Foundation. “We appreciate everything the people of MOSAIC are doing to help those with disabilities not just dream, but achieve.”

As a non-profit organization, Mosaic operates 36 agencies that provide services to more than 3,600 people with intellectual disabilities in 12 states (Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska,New Mexico, Oregon, Tennessee and Texas). Mosaic in Connecticut offers adults with intellectual disabilities a wide range of services that are tailored to their specific needs. Services include: various housing options; day programs; employment support; coordination of medical/dental care; case management; home and community-based services; respite; transportation; advocacy; and spiritual nurture and growth opportunities.

There are two upcoming comedy events that we invite other corporate and business partners to support and the residents of Connecticut to come and enjoy. The first event will be the Connecticut Comedy Idol Contest taking place on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 6:00p.m. - 9:00p.m. At The Funny Bone Comedy Club, 194 Buckland Hills Drive in Manchester, Conn. (within The Shoppes at Buckland Hills Mall) . The event will be hosted by Celebrity Emcee, Damon Scott popular afternoon radio personality on 96.5 WTIC-FM. It is Mosaic’s version of American Idol for comedians. Visit www.ctmosaic.org to register as a comedian (deadline 8/20) and to purchase the $20 tickets. The winner of Connecticut Comedy Idol will be showcased as the opening act at Mosaic’s larger event called “Laugh Out Loud (LOL) Comedy Night which will take place on Friday November 5, 2010 at the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell, 100 Berlin Road Cromwell, Connecticut from 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm. The event will feature a cocktail hour with a silent auction and balloon chance. We will also be featuring live musical guest Andrea Paquin. The $40 ticket price will include admission to the 2 hour comedy show, gourmet pasta stations, salad, artisan breads, coffee station, and a cash bar for all beverages will be available. The 3 headliner professional comedians have been seen on Late Night with David Letterman, Tonight Show with Jay Leno, HBO Comedy Central, and have played in the best comedy clubs across the US.
