The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announced today that the swimming area at Black Rock State Park, Thomaston, is closed due to elevated levels of bacteria in the water as a result of recent heavy rains. This brings the total of closed swimming areas at state parks to seven.
Water has been re-sampled at each of these state parks. If the water samples meet water quality standards for swimming, the swimming areas can re-open.
Below is a chart of swimming areas that are closed, the date of water re-sampling and the date that test results are expected.
