CARTER MARIO INJURY LAWYERS AWARDS $10,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO 10 CONNECTICUT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS THROUGH “ARRIVE ALIVE” SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Connecticut’s leading injury law firm, Carter Mario Injury Lawyers, hosted their 4th Annual “Arrive Alive” Scholarship Program this winter. This year the law firm awarded $10,000 in scholarships to 10 high school seniors from across the state who have shown academic excellence as well as demonstrated their understanding of the consequences and dangers of drinking and driving through an essay contest. Each winning student received a $1,000 scholarship from Carter Mario and was honored at an event held at the Offices of Carter Mario Injury Lawyers in Milford, CT on April 30th.

This year’s winners came from all across Connecticut, each with their own personal reasons for entering the scholarship. Some students have been directly afflicted by tragedies related to drinking and driving; others just understand the immense importance of educating their friends and other teens on the grave dangers of drinking and getting behind the wheel. This year’s winners are: Aminata Fofana of Bassick High School in Bridgeport, Charlotte Freeland of Glastonbury High School, Daniel Sheiner of Avon, CT attending Loomis Chaffee in Windsor, Gina Sirico of Joseph A. Foran High School in Milford, Ian Rogers of W.F. Kaynor Technical High School in Waterbury, Jachius Stewart of Waterbury Arts Magnet, Jonathan Davis of Bristol Central High School, Matthew Scaringe of Newington High School, Samantha Plourde of South Windsor High School, and Yujia Liu of Daniel Hand High School in Madison.

The “Arrive Alive” Scholarship Program is just one of the community and youth-focused initiatives that Carter Mario Injury Lawyers’ undertakes as part of “Carter Cares,” the statewide law firm’s community outreach initiative. Over the years Carter Mario Injury Lawyers has been involved with everything from sponsoring youth baseball teams in the inner cities of Connecticut, to offering complimentary taxi cab rides home after the NCAA Final Four Championship game aired, to prevent drunk driving, and most notably distributing bicycle helmets to children in need of a helmet statewide, free of charge.

Law firm President and CEO, Carter Mario has a deep love for serving the community, especially when it pertains to kids. The subject of drinking and driving prevention among teens was particularly appealing to Mario and the firm. “We decided that with our experience, weekly and almost daily, being confronted with someone getting hurt either by a drunk driver or someone drinking, in pretty horrific experiences, this is something we can dig into and make an impact on,” says Mario. “At the end of the day, if we can impact one kid then that to us is an absolute success.”
