Cherry Street in New Canaan to be closed for dog festival

New Canaan, CT - On Sunday, June 9, 2013, from 12:00 – 3:00 pm, New Canaan downtown will host the annual outdoor festival for dogs and their human companions. Cherry Street, from Main St (Rte 106) to Burtis Avenue, will be closed to car traffic between 11:30 – 3:30p.m. The event will occur rain or shine. Admission is free to all.

The schedule of events, subject to change, is:

12:00 Exhibits, Scavenger Hunt and Activities open

-Dog Make-overs by Hairy Barker Inn & Spa

-Dog Photographs by Venture Photography

12:15 Agility Training Demonstration with Heather Witt

12:30 Wag Away Dog Contest

12:45 Pet Massage Benefits Demonstration by Katie Knechtle

1:00 Music Performance for young children by Emily Hall from Mary Ann Hall's Music For Children

1:30 Family Resemblance Look-Alike Contest

1:45 Dogs & Divas Fashion Parade featuring fashions by L’Armoire & Village Critter Outfitter

2:00 Smoochin’ with your Pooch Best Kiss Contest

2:30 Dunkin’ for Dogs Contest

2:45 Winner of scavenger hunt announced

3:00 Event closes

Key Sponsors for the event include Village Critter Outfitter, Aetheria Relaxation Spa, Bank of New Canaan and New Canaan Advertiser (all of New Canaan) and Bow Wow Day Camp of Stamford and VCA Hospital Norwalk.
