The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection is alerting consumers to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, recall of the Scooby Doo, Tweety and Batman Fork and Spoon Sets, manufactured in China for Peachtree Playthings, of Atlanta, Georgia. Consumers should stop using these recalled products immediately. The middle two (2) prongs of the plastic fork can easily detach, posing a choking hazard to children.

This recall involves the Scooby Doo, Tweety and Batman plastic fork and spoon sets. The two-piece set is white plastic with cartoon images on the handle. This product was sold nationwide at Dollar Tree Stores and Deals during January 2010 for approximately $1.00 per set. Although there have been no injuries reported there has been one (1) report of a middle prong detaching from the fork.

Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell Jr., strongly recommends consumers check their homes for this product and if found, remove from the child’s possession. Consumers should return the recalled fork and spoon sets to Dollar Tree or Deals for a full refund. For additional information, contact Peachtree Playthings at (800) 290-4831 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, visit the firm's Web site at www.peachtreeplaythings.com or email the firm at peachtree@peachtreeplaythings.com .
