The Children’s Hooded Sweatshirts and Jackets were sold in a variety of colors such as: blue, pink, ivory, red, black, brown, navy, green, charcoal and white, in children’s small, medium and large sizes. Printed on the front of the garments may be : “Keystone,” “Breckenridge,” “Jackson Hole,” “Vail,” “Steamboat,” and “Mackinac Island.” Some of these garments may have a sewn-in tag, reading “BAC.” The drawstring through the hood of this product, poses a strangulation hazard. The recalled sweatshirts and jackets were sold at “Shirt Off My Back” stores in Michigan, Wyoming and Colorado, for approximately $20.00 to $30.00, from September 2005 to May 2008. Although there are no “Shirt Off My Back” stores in Connecticut, this product may have been purchased out of state, or sent as a gift and hence could be in consumer’s homes. Connecticut’s Department of Consumer Protection Product Safety Inspectors have these products on their watch list to ensure the recalled sweatshirts and jackets have not shown up in local stores. Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr., strongly recommends consumers check their children’s clothing for these products and if found, immediately remove the drawstring to prevent possible strangulation. Consumers may also return these garments to the place of purchase for a full refund.. Although no injuries or incidents have been reported, the drawstring through the hood of these garments, poses a strangulation hazard which could prove fatal.
