Visual Concepts Media Inc., the Windsor, CT-based leader in web development and video production recently produced a short video for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center ’s (CCMC) Elite Sports Medicine program. The video was produced in an effort to raise awareness among baseball coaches, players, and parents to entice them to learn more about and participate in an injury prevention program designed by CCMC.
The program was developed after a research study performed by CCMC’s Center for Motion Analysis, found an increase in injuries to children who play America ’s favorite pastime all year-round.
More and more children are playing sports throughout the year causing what can often be traumatic injuries to their bodies at a young age, according to Dr. Carl Nissen, an orthopedic sports physician at CCMC. Visual Concepts producers partnered with Dr. Nissen after he observed a trend in young athletes needing surgery as a result of these injuries. The Visual Concepts team worked with CCMC to produce an effective and creative video to assist in providing a greater understanding about how to prevent injuries in baseball players.
The high definition video, distributed in DVD format through the CCMC/Elite Sports Medicine website, was produced by Visual Concepts using on-camera interviews with key people involved with the study. The video will be shown by CCMC during a presentation at a conference this month. CCMC will also use the video to continue building awareness for the Elite Sports Medicine program and the Center for Motion Analysis.
Visual Concepts has worked with CCMC since 2002 when the digital media firm produced two documentaries highlighting the stories of six CCMC patients and their successful outcomes, which were later aired during the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon to help raise money for the hospital. Among other projects for CCMC, Visual Concepts also produced an information video for Elite Sports Medicine which helped to highlight their “Jump Program,” a course which helps to reduce knee injuries in young basketball players. The recent video for young baseball players takes a similar pro-active approach to “Jump” with regards to taking measures to prevent injuries, and is viewable at www.ccmckids.org/elitesportsmedicine/prevention.
“In partnering with Dr. Nissen and CCMC, we first determined all of our creative options that would help get the message out effectively. A well-designed video is an extremely efficient communication tool; a technique that is fast becoming a popular instrument for both large and small company’s in reaching an extensive audience. This digital media tool has increased in importance in a massive way since online video exploded over the last year. It has gained ground quickly and has become known as a very powerful means for companies in fulfilling their communication objectives,” said Rich Wright, Vice President of Production and Senior Editor for Visual Concepts.
