WETHERSFIELD, CT - The Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) was recognized today for its community service efforts by U.S. and Canadian motor vehicle administrators.

The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) awarded DMV with the 2016 Community Service Award for its contributions to the annual Connecticut State Employees’ Campaign for Charitable Giving. DMV Commissioner Michael Bzdyra accepted the award at the 2016 AAMVA Region I Conference in Burlington, Vt.

“This award highlights the generosity of DMV employees,” Commissioner Bzdyra said. “It’s an honor to accept this award and know that our staff is helping so many great causes in need.”

DMV employees in 2015 donated $21,539 to the State Employees’ Campaign, a total that marked a 31 percent increase from 2014 and its highest overall donation total in nine years. The annual campaign asks state employees to donate to a variety of non-profit charities and also provides a payroll deduction for donating.
