Hartford, CT - The Department of Public Health updated the list of public water systems under boil water advisory. Currently, 100 small public drinking water systems in the state are under a boil water advisory.
State health officials said it is important that residential customers served by systems that have issued a boil water advisory follow the guidance of their public water system. DPH is monitoring these systems and working to contact other small public drinking water systems to determine their status and offer assistance as needed.

Homeowners with private wells flooded or damaged by the storm should consider their wells contaminated and disinfect their wells before resuming their use. Information on private wells, as well as a list of laboratories certified to test drinking water open this holiday weekend, is available online at www.ct.gov/dph/ (click on “Hurricane Irene: Important Health Information.”) DPH Environmental Health staff is also available to answer questions over the long weekend from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. by calling (860) 509-8000.
