Product Safety Inspectors from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection are visiting Family Dollar Stores this week conducting recall effectiveness checks in response to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issuing a voluntary recall of the FUN ‘N GAMES Magnetic Dart Board, manufactured in China and imported by Henry Gordy International, Inc., of Plainfield, New Jersey. The Dart Board was sold exclusively at Family Dollar Stores nationwide from January 2002 through March 2008, for approximately $1.00.
Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr., recommends that consumers check their children’s toys for this potentially hazardous product and immediately remove from their possession. For a full refund, consumers should mail this product to: Henry Gordy International, Inc., 809A Market Street , Hermann , MO 65041 . If additional information is required, please contact Henry Gordy International, Inc, toll free at (888) 790-2700, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm CT.
Although no injuries have been reported, the small magnets contained at the ends of these darts, can detach and if more than one is swallowed, the magnets can potentially attract to each other causing intestinal blockages or perforations which can prove fatal.
