Hartford, CT - Wednesday evening, the 72-member Democratic State Central Committee re-elected Nancy DiNardo of Trumbull to serve as chairwoman of the Connecticut Democratic Party for another term. DiNardo, who was originally elected in 2005, has led the state party through seven years of resounding victories for Democrats in Connecticut. In addition to electing the first Democratic Governor of Connecticut in 24 years, Democrats have swept the Congressional races, and maintained healthy majorities in both chambers of the Connecticut General Assembly.
“I want to thank my fellow committee members, my staff, and of course the Governor, for asking me to serve for two more years,” said DiNardo. “I’m excited to get to work as we prepare for the upcoming municipal elections and the 2014 election cycle.”
“I would like to congratulate Nancy on her re-election tonight, and thank her for her hard work and leadership,” said Governor Dannel P. Malloy. “With the leadership that's now in place, I’m confident the Party is poised for another successful election cycle in 2013.”
Also re-elected were Vice Chairman Dominic Balletto, Secretary Barbara Gordon, and Treasurer Emma Pierce.
The Democratic State Central Committee is comprised 72 members with two members elected from each State Senate District.
