Stamford, CT - The region’s most prestigious business community leadership award will be presented by The Business Council of Fairfield County to Diana Lenkowsky, Vice President, Facilities and Administrative Services, on November 15, 2011 at Stamford Plaza Hotel & Conference Center. The evening includes a reception at 6:30 p.m., with dinner at 7:30 p.m., followed by the award presentation.
The Walter H. Wheeler, Jr. Leadership Award, named after the visionary Pitney Bowes leader, celebrates corporate leadership in our community. Through the award, The Business Council demonstrates its commitment to volunteer leadership and offers a role model for all businesspeople to emulate.
A native of Norwalk, Diana has led Purdue’s community relations efforts for more than 20 years, first in Norwalk and for the past 11 years in Stamford, where the company relocated in 2000. She has consistently gone beyond good corporate citizenship to provide valuable community leadership, serving as an active leader – often as chair – on many of the area’s boards. Diana is a past chair and Lifetime Board Member of the Human Services Council of Norwalk, past chair of the Stamford Partnership and 40 South Main (Transitional Housing in Norwalk), current chair of Stamford Achieves, and a director of the Mill River Collaborative and Norwalk 2.0. Currently, she also serves on the United Way’s Stamford Community Council and chairs The Business Council’s Stamford Transportation Roundtable, the latest in more than a decade of transportation leadership in the business community.
The Business Council is grateful to Pitney Bowes Inc. for its underwriting sponsorship of the evening, and equally important, for the continuing commitment of its most senior management to
The Business Council as a vehicle to pursue the ideals of success and service that Mr. Wheeler embodied.
“Diana’s commitment to community is beyond commendable. Her contributions have spanned from hands-on volunteering, to recruiting business board members, leading strategic planning processes, and, in at least three different cases, led boards through CEO transitions,” commented Christopher Bruhl, President & CEO, The Business Council of Fairfield County.
