Product safety inspectors from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection are visiting retail establishments this week, conducting recall effectiveness checks in response to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s voluntary recall of Wooden Toys , manufactured in India by Earthentree of Kirkland, Washington.

The Wooden Toys were sold nationwide at retail stores, fairs, trade shows, and Earthentree’s web site, for approximately $7.00 to $34.00 from December 2007 through May 2008. Involved in this recall are a variety of toys including rattles, pull toys, trains and egg shakers. The toys were painted the following glossy colors: green, red, orange, yellow, brown, or natural wood. The small parts on the toys can break off, posing a choking hazard and some contain a string longer than 12 inches, which poses a strangulation hazard..

Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr., strongly recommends that consumers check their children’s toys for this product, and if found, immediately remove and contact Earthentree for a refund or an exchange. For additional information, please call Earthentree toll free at (800) 963-1593, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, or visit their website at www.earthentree.com/recall .
