NORWALK, CT - Family & Children’s Agency, a non-profit family service agency based in Norwalk, kicked off its new speaker’s bureau at the Wilton Kiwanis Club. Speaking to a group of 50 to 60 attendees, Jennifer Barahona, Director of Youth Development, spoke about the impact of the Agency and how it serves over 10,000 children and families, youth, adults, and seniors each year. In particular, she discussed how the Agency is able to make a difference in the lives of youth through its Afterschool and Mentoring programs.

“What we are finding is that there are a lot of people in the community who are interested in learning more about what we do,” said Rob Cashel, President & CEO of Family & Children’s Agency. “Either they have a family member or a friend who could benefit from our services. Or they are in a position of giving back and are looking for meaningful ways to do so in their community.”

The Speakers Bureau kicked off is first presentation in Wilton, a community that has long been engaged with the Agency. It hopes to take its message to other surround communities including Westport, Darien, Weston, and New Canaan. “By actively getting out into the community, we hope to increase the number of people who know about us, and the depth of their understanding” says Cashel. “While we’ve been well-known in certain communities for a long time, other communities are just beginning to tap into what we offer.”

Family & Children’s Agency, which is entering its 70th year, has long been a fixture of Fairfield County. It provides strength-based, solution focused services that respond to the social and emotional needs of children and families, youth, adults, and seniors throughout Connecticut.
