Fairfield Museum and History Center (www.fairfieldhistory.org) has received a one-year, $20,000 grant from Fairfield County Community Foundation for the implementation of new education initiatives.

Fairfield Museum and History Center will use the grant money for two key initiatives. The first is to develop a plan for improving and expanding educational programming. The goal for this initiative is to increase visitation at Fairfield Museum and History Center exhibitions and programs and expand to a wider geographic area.

The second initiative will be the re-installation of the Museum’s core regional history exhibition for the 2012-2013 school year to support educational programs. The goal for this initiative is to increase student participation in Fairfield Museum and History Center’s school programs and to improve the quality and impact of those programs.

According to Michael Jehle, executive director, “While Fairfield Museum and History Center’s primary demographic is Fairfield County, this generous grant from the Fairfield County Community Foundation will help position the Museum as a regional cultural resource, drawing a broader audience into the town of Fairfield.”

Working with the Fairfield Museum’s staff on this effort is Jane Fragner, former assistant director of education at the Jewish Museum in New York and a curator for museum education at the Greenwich Historical Society and Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford.
