OLD SAYBROOK, CT - Families from all Middlesex County shoreline communities affected by Superstorm Sandy are eligible to apply for a one-time donation of a full week’s worth of groceries for a typical family of four. The distribution will take place at a single location in Old Saybrook the week prior to Christmas Day.

Individuals and families may contact Old Saybrook’s Social Services office at 860-395-3188 or Community Renewal Team’s Nancy Shapiro at 860-560-5471 to apply. There will also be paper applications available in the social services office in Old Saybrook located at 322 Main Street.

No proof of eligibility or storm damage is required. Those that apply will receive precise grocery pick up information including date, time and precise location.

This effort was organized through a partnership between Community Renewal Team (CRT) and Feed the Children. Over the past two years the two organizations have collaborated to provide grocery donations to more than 1,600 families in Central Connecticut through similar events.
