STAMFORD, CT - The First County Bank Foundation announced Wednesday the availability of its 2013 grant applications for nonprofit agencies in lower Fairfield County. The deadline for submitting standard grant applications is March 31, 2013.

To be eligible, organizations must have nonprofit tax exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and serve the communities of Stamford, Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk or Westport. Applicant organizations must support community and economic development, increase the availability of affordable housing and support quality of life and educational enrichment for families and children. Since the First County Bank Foundation was formed in 2001, it has awarded a total of 768 individual grants worth $5.2 million. Grant application forms are available on its Website: http://www.firstcountybank.com/application-process-0.

“The Newtown tragedy and Superstorm Sandy’s coastal damage have had a severe impact on all of our lives. As we look toward a new year, First County Bank’s directors, corporators, officers and employees would like to remind folks how important it is to reach out and help others in need,” said Katherine Harris, First County Bank president and COO, and vice president of the foundation. “Through the First County Bank Foundation, we will do everything possible to ensure these grants are used to the community’s advantage.”

As a mutual bank with no shareholders, First County Bank considers contributions made by the foundation a means of paying dividends back to the local communities it serves.
