Aitoro’s Appliance Showroom in Norwalk will host “Galaxy of Gourmets for STAR” a casual, family-friendly fundraising event that includes music, mingling and tastings of gourmet food and drinks from restaurants in Fairfield County showcased in their dream kitchens. The event will be held at 401 Westport Avenue in Norwalk on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $40 at www.STARct.org or by calling Megan Johnson at 203-846-9581 x339. Advanced reservations are preferred, but tickets will be available at the door.
Participating restaurants include Dolce of Norwalk, Don Carmelo’s, Osteria Romana, Sugar & Olives, Pontos Taverna, Romanacci, SoNo Brewhouse, A Dash of Salt Catering, KAZU Sushi, Chocolate Rain Candy Shoppe.The Little Pub, Michael Joseph’s Restaurant and Catering, Olivette, Wave Hill Breads, Down East Seafoods, Highland Imports and Greens Farms Spirit Shop.
Musican groups performing at the event include STAR’s own Ruberband, a rock and roll group of performers with developmental disabilities and staff members from STAR. Also, the event includes a special performance by The Extras, a local rock and roll band. In addition, the myriad of television monitors in the showroom will feature assorted STAR videos and there will be a special Chinese auction of desirable wines, gift items and restaurant certificates.
All proceeds benefit STAR, Inc., Lighting the Way’s programs and services for infants, children, adults and seniors who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.
STAR’s Executive Director, Katie Banzhaf says, “This is a very fun and special event that helps us fulfill our mission and comes to life with the compassionate and generous support of Tony Aitoro and everyone at his organization, and all of these terrific gourmet chefs from area restaurants. This is the second year we have held this event that attracts many of our younger families as well as others who support STAR throughout the year.”
