Norwalk, CT - Norwalk Public Library’s Gardening Lecture series presents C. Marina Marchese in a discussion of her book, Honeybee: Lessons from an Accidental Beekeeper, on Wednesday, November 13, from 6 - 7:30 p.m., in the Main Auditorium, located at 1 Belden Avenue, Norwalk.
Marina Marchese fell in love with bees after an unexpected tour of a neighbor’s honeybee hives. Her first taste of fresh honey from the beehive would change the course of her life. She quit her job, acquired her own bees, built her own hives, harvested honey, earned a certificate in apitherapy, and studied wine tasting to transfer those skills to honey tasting. Passionate about nature and environmental issues around food, Marchese created her nationally recognized brand, Red Bee Honey.
More than an inspiring story of one woman’s relationship with honeybees, Honeybee is full of information, including an emphasis on pollination and its importance to sustaining all life. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
C. Marina Marchese is founder and owner of Red Bee Honey. She is certified by the American Apitherapy Society, has trained as a honey judge at the University of Georgia, and is president of the BackYard Beekeepers Association of Connecticut. Marchese has written for Bee Culture magazine and The Journal of the American Apitherapy Society. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York City, she is also an award-winning illustrator and designer.
