“Good heart, great hair 30 for 30” during Valentine’s month
Becker salon
Heart and hair will go hand-in-hand at Becker Salon in Greenwich , which is offering new customers a hair cut and blow dry for $30, which will then be donated to Kids in Crisis in celebration of the organization’s 30th anniversary. For $30, newcomers can experience Becker Salon’s great hair cuts that are normally $95 and up for women and $50 for men. The “Good Heart, Great Hair 30 for 30” special will be available February 9 through 29. New customers can call, 203-340-9550, or stop by the salon at 268 Mason Street and mention the 30 for 30 special. Men and women are welcome!

“February is the month of love and a good time to treat yourself or a loved one to something special, like a new hair cut, and at the same time, help a child in need in this community,” said Becker Chicaiza, founder and owner of the year-old salon. “Our goal is to raise $3,000 for Kids in Crisis and introduce 100 new customers to Becker Salon,” he added.

Kids in Crisis is pleased to accept the offer and work with Becker Salon. “The wish list for our children continues to grow and this program will help us fulfill our most critical needs,” said Alon Marom, Director, Corporate & Community Giving. Kids in Crisis (www.kidsincrisis.org) is Connecticut’s only free, round-the-clock agency providing emergency shelter, crisis counseling and community educational programs for children of all ages and families dealing with a wide range of crises—domestic violence, mental health and family problems, substance abuse, economic difficulties and more. Since its founding 30 years ago, in 1978, Kids in Crisis has helped more than 80,000 Connecticut children and families; in 2007, more than 8,100 children and families received assistance from the organization.

Becker is passionate about helping others and regularly gives complimentary hair cuts to patients at area hospitals and nursing homes. Because of his special interest in helping youngsters in need, Becker donates one percent of the salon’s income to children’s cancer research. His compassion for others began in Ecuador where he was born and raised and where he started cutting hair at age 15. One day, he took in a homeless man, Victor, fed him, gave him a bath, a change of clothes and a hair cut. When Victor was transformed with a totally new look, Becker discovered his innate talents. He became an instant success. Women at his mother’s chicken factory would line up for Becker’s hair cuts where he used only a pair of regular scissors and no fancy products.

After moving to Greenwich eight years ago, Becker worked in a variety of salons in both Greenwich and Stamford , winning the hearts of customers who appreciated his personal attention and ability to create unique hair color, cuts and styles. In 2007, he fulfilled his dream by opening Becker Salon. His mission is to highlight the beauty of every person who enters the salon through the magic touch of his hands and to make the experience an unforgettable moment of great transformation.

The boutique-like salon provides an intimate and elegant setting where customers can feel relaxed and comfortable. A mini bar offers complimentary beverages and customers can have their hair washed while seated in massage chairs. There is also a separate room for those who want or need privacy. The unique décor includes furniture imported from Italy .

Becker Salon prides itself on individual relationships with clients, as well as expertise. Becker and his staff have trained in Manhattan , London , Paris and Milan so they can offer the highest level of professionalism. Recently, the Becker Salon was chosen by L’Oreal magazine to be featured as one of the top salons in the country. This is a very prestigious honor and Becker Salon is one of the first salons in Greenwich to receive this level of recognition by L’Oreal.

Becker Salon is located at 268 Mason Street in Greenwich . The “Good Heart, Great Hair 30 for 30” special begins Saturday, February 9 and continues through Friday, February 29. Appointments are recommended. New customers who would like to discover Becker Salon can ask for the 30 for 30 special. For further information or to schedule an appointment, please call 203-340-9550 or visit www.beckersalon.com.
