Governor M. Jodi Rell today reminded residents that the statewide “Day of Caring & Compassion” will take place this Saturday, July 31, when several fire stations around Connecticut will serve as collection centers for donations of non-perishable food to help replenish the state’s two main food banks. The fire stations will be collecting food donations from 9 AM to 12 PM on Saturday.
“Saturday will be the day we can all help fill the shelves the shelves of Foodshare and Connecticut Food Bank,” Governor Rell said. “Our goal is to collect as much non-perishable food as possible. Please visit one of the participating fire stations on Saturday morning and donate whatever you can.”
The Governor said Foodshare and the Connecticut Food Bank will organize pick-ups from the fire stations later in the day – and from there it will go to food pantries and people in need all across Connecticut.
