Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that she has appointed Luke Schnirring of Norwalk as a member of the Metro North New Haven Rail Commuter Council. The council addresses quality of life and maintenance issues for rail riders.

Schnirring is Executive Vice-President at Tech Briefs Media Group. The Manhattan-based company offers print and electronic media resources that serve the design engineering market. Schnirring, a lifelong resident of Fairfield County, holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Denver.

“Luke has been a lifetime Metro North rider and his knowledge and experience will make him an asset to the Commuter Council,” Governor Rell said. “I thank him for his willingness to serve the State of Connecticut.”

Schnirring will serve until the sixth Wednesday of the next regular session of the General Assembly, or until a successor is appointed and has qualified, whichever is longer.
