Project Morry young people participate in one of their monthly year-round meeting
A small victory is...conquering the fear of swimming by taking the first lap in the pool....passing a test, when you thought you couldn’t do it...making the honor roll, when it seemed like a distant goal.
At Project Morry, one of the country’s leading nonprofit, youth organizations, small victories are celebrated every day, every month, every year, as Project Morry’s young people grow into their true potential. This holiday season, Project Morry is asking for help to continue to assist hundreds of inner-city children from Westchester, Long Island, New York City and Bridgeport, Connecticut in turning small victories into huge accomplishments by making a tax-deductible contribution.
Project Morry is a nonprofit, year-round youth development organization, anchored by a residential summer camp with an educational focus. Each summer, over 400 inner-city children leave their urban communities for four weeks, free of charge, to enjoy camp adventures and combat summer learning loss at Morry’s Camp, located in upstate New York. During the school year, young people benefit from a network of support that helps them gain increased social skills, enhanced self-esteem, positive core values and a greater sense of personal responsibility through monthly meetings with Project Morry staff and mentors.
Each of these small victories adds up to a huge success for Project Morry. In schools where fewer than 50% of incoming 9th graders graduate, 100% of the young people who complete Project Morry’s program graduate from high school and go on to pursue higher education, military service or secure employment.
Project Morry is named in honor of Morry Stein, an innovative leader in the world of camping for over 30 years, who had a goal to give the invaluable gift of summer camp to all children, regardless of economic status. Tragically, Morry was killed in an airplane crash before he could see this dream realized. Inspired by his vision and determined to make it a reality, Morry’s friends and family created Project Morry to fulfill his vision of summer camp for all children and provide a full scope of year-round initiatives with a focus on comprehensive educational programming.
