Greenwich, CT - Due to freak weather conditions the Howl & Prowl Costume Parade and Contest was rescheduled twice and finally, on a sunny, warm Sunday, was held on November 6 in Greenwich, CT where two hundred and five (205) dogs and their families were registered to participate. Over 500 people from Fairfield and Westchester Counties enjoyed the exhibits, free treats for dogs and people, DJ Eric, a Children’s Activity area, hot dogs, ice cream and a parade with treat stops at various local merchants on Greenwich Avenue.

Families told a story in costume - “prisoners” in stripes stole the heart of the crowd and won the combined prize. The “Sultan” with his passenger perched in the box on his back, the princess who came in her very own float and “Lions & Tigers & Bears Oh My” received enthusiastic response from the crowd gathered around the stage to watch the finals! Prizes included ribbons and valuable gift certificates to the Pet Pantry Warehouse. A free drawing was held where the winner received a gift certificate for free dog food for a year from Pet Pantry Warehouse.

Dr. Dale Atkins (Psychologist appearing on The Today Show), MaryAlice Jansky from Wellness Natural Food for Dogs and Dana Jevarjian from Serendipity Magazine judged the finals. They were joined by Maria Kelly Stevens, Producer of Greenwich has Talent also representing the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce, Frank Taylor and Liz Ceppi from One Brain Marketing, along with representatives from Pet Pantry Warehouse and Venture Photography as additional judges.

“It’s so great to see so many people come out with their pets to show support for Adopt-A-Dog even though we had to change the date. The storms this year have caused so much damage to the shelter and any funds we raise will be put to great use” said Allyson Halm, President of Adopt-A-Dog. “Corporate support this year has been remarkable, as they see how much people in this area love their dogs” continued Allyson.

Adopt-A-Dog, Inc., a local non-profit rescue, shelter and adoption agency dedicated to finding good homes for adoptable dogs and cats, and Pet Pantry Warehouse, the leading pet supply store in Greenwich, sponsored the event. Members of the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce (event partner) hosted treat stops along Greenwich Ave. National and local pet product manufacturers (Wellness, Blue Buffalo, Stella & Chewy’s, Pedigree, Natural Balance, Purina Pro, Nature’s Variety, Halo, Natura Pet, and others), offered free toys, treats and product samples for registered pets.
