Himes knows ten debates with Shays are being scheduled across Fourth Congressional District

In contrast to inaccurate statements by the Himes campaign, Congressman Christopher Shays’ Campaign Manager Michael Sohn yesterday released the list of 10 debates to which Shays has already agreed this fall.

Although the host organizations have not yet confirmed exact dates and times, the 10 debates Shays has agreed to participate in between October 11 and 20 include:

1. Bridgeport Regional Business Council

2. Norwalk Chamber of Commerce

3. Business Council of Fairfield County

4. League of Women Voters (Coastal Towns)

5. League of Women Voters (Inland Towns)

6. Fairfield University

7. World Affairs Forum

8. American Civil Liberties Union

9. Temple Israel, Westport

10. AARP

“Christopher believes debates are a fundamental part of the political process,” Sohn said. “Historically, he has participated in a large number of debates in election years and this year is no different. We are working directly with these organizations to set up debates, and it’s hard to understand why the Himes campaign would publish misleading information to the contrary.”

“This claim is ridiculous,” Sohn continued. “Christopher’s challenger and the new campaign manager he brought in from Washington should be spending time preparing to debate the issues voters care about.”
